Digital Marketing FAQs
Why are backlinks important for SEO?
Backlinks are important for SEO because they act as votes in favour of your domain. In other words, when you gain a dofollow backlink from another website, Google recognises that a website sees you as trustworthy, useful and authoritative.
Google takes into account the domain authority of the site that’s linking to you as well when it sees you have a new backlink. For example, if your domain authority (which means overall strength as a website, scored out of 100) is 35 and your backlink comes from a website with a score of 70, your score might increase to, say, 40.
The more quality backlinks you have, the better.
