What does a backlink look like?

A backlink often appears as text on a page that’s underlined. The text that is underlined (and often a different colour to the rest of the text, like blue), is what’s called ‘anchor text. This is because it acts as the anchor to the link where the user can click and be sent to a different page on that domain, or a different domain altogether.
