A guest Blog from James Hilditch of BearJam.

You’ve just filmed a great interview.

The conversation flowed. The insights were strong. The footage looks sharp.

You publish the full video, share it once on LinkedIn… and then move on to the next thing.

And just like that, 90% of the value is lost.

Because the truth is, one interview isn’t one piece of content.

It can be a content engine.

With a smart repurposing plan, a single 30-minute shoot can fuel a full month of SEO-driven marketing assets, from blogs and social clips to email content and evergreen search traffic.

Here’s how to do it.

Video SEO: the marketing advantage most teams underuse

Video SEO is simply the practice of helping your video content get found through search.

That means making it easier for Google and YouTube to understand what your video is about, so it can show up when people search for topics you’ve covered.

It includes:

  • Keyword-focused titles

  • Strong descriptions

  • Captions and transcripts

  • Dedicated landing pages

  • Thumbnails that earn clicks

Done well, video becomes more than “engagement content” and it becomes a discoverability channel.

Why video gives marketers an SEO edge

  • Video doesn’t just look good, it keeps people on the page longer. Video increases dwell time, one of the clearest signals that your content is valuable. If someone watches even 20 seconds, you’ve already improved engagement.

  • One shoot can create keyword-rich content, a transcript gives you hundreds of lines of indexable text, naturally packed with long-tail search terms and real language.

  • Videos earn shares, links and reach faster. A strong clip travels further than a blog paragraph. Interviews get reshared, embedded, referenced, and linked to, which strengthens authority over time.

Why interviews are the most efficient video format for content marketing

Interviews are marketing gold because they do three things at once:

  1. They answer real audience questions

The best interviews naturally hit the topics people are already searching for, without forcing keywords into a script.

  1. They scale into multiple formats instantly

One recording can become weeks of output from one session:

  • A hero video

  • A pillar blog post

  • 3–5 social clips

  • Quote graphics

  • Audiograms

  • Newsletter features

  • Follow-up posts

  1. They capture the way people actually search

Search is becoming more conversational, especially with AI-led discovery, and interview language mirrors that perfectly.

The playbook to turn one interview into a month of content

Here’s the process we like to use at BearJam.

1. Start with the transcript

Before you edit anything, transcribe the full interview.

Tools like Descript, Otter or Rev make it quick. Rev is our go-to for a professional look and features.

Your transcript is the foundation; it becomes the source material for:

  • Blogs

  • Captions

  • SEO keywords

  • Social pull quotes

  • Email copy

  • And further video cutdown.

2. Publish the full video properly (not just quickly)

Upload the full interview with search and long-term discoverability in mind:

  • Lead with the keyword in the title

  • Write a description that highlights the key themes

  • Add tags and timestamps

  • Link back to your site

  • Upload an SRT file if the platform allows

Remember, the goal isn’t just views.

3. Turn the interview into a pillar blog post

Your transcript is not the blog.

The blog should be a structured, skimmable version of the interview, making it designed for search.

Pull out the strongest themes, add clear headings, and shape it around intent. This becomes your SEO anchor piece.

You should also embed the video in the post and you get the best of both worlds: watch time and indexable text.

4. Clip the best moments for social

Now you create your distribution layer for social sharing by pulling out the most valuable 15–60 second insights and turning them into standalone clips.

Here’s BearJam’s rule of thumb;

Platform

Ideal Length

Format

LinkedIn

30–90 sec

Square or vertical

Reels / TikTok

15–60 sec

Vertical 9:16

Shorts

30–60 sec

Vertical 9:16

Always add captions. Most people scroll with sound off.

5. Create quote graphics and audiograms

Not every insight needs video. Some might work better as:

  • A simple bold quote graphic

  • A short audiogram with waveform + captions (these are great on linkedin)

These formats perform brilliantly on LinkedIn and help you squeeze more value from the same source and can point back to the hero blog post and video.

6. Feed your email marketing with interview insights

One strong takeaway can become an great email. Try to feature a quote and link back to the blog post.

This drives qualified traffic back to your site and keeps your content working across channels.

7. Build a simple monthly rollout

Don’t drop everything in one week, try to stretch the value across the month:

Week

Focus

Output

1

Launch

Full video + pillar blog

2

Reach

2–3 social clips + audiogram

3

Engagement

Quote graphics + newsletter

4

Extension

Follow-up post or BTS content

Video SEO best practices

Write titles for humans and search - Keep them clear, keyword-led, and under 60 characters where possible.

Always include captions and transcripts - Better accessibility, better discovery and better SEO.

Use strong thumbnails - Your thumbnail is your click trigger. Make it intentional, not accidental. Human faces often perform better here.

Publish videos on dedicated pages - Give your video its own SEO home, not a buried corner of your website.

One interview can do far more than you think

Most teams treat interviews as a single asset.

The smarter move is to treat them as a content source, one that can power weeks of SEO, social and email output with minimal extra effort.

Plan once. Repurpose properly. Build a repeatable system.

That’s how one conversation becomes a little marketing engine.
