About Birmingham

Due to its inland central location, Birmingham is a major transport hub on the motorway, rail, and canal networks. The city is served by a number of major motorways and probably the best known motorway junction in the UK, Spaghetti Junction. Author J. R. R. Tolkien was brought up here with many locations in the city supposedly being the inspiration for various scenes in The Lord of the Rings. A city of world-class culture Birmingham is home to the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Royal Ballet and Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. There is also the ICC, a major conference venue and the NIA, a large indoor arena which hosts a range of events with seating for up to 13,000.
